Fear Itself - F4

From the live broadcast from Channel 12's helicopter:
"During a time of already significant panic among the people of New York...and indeed, the people of the world...we're reporting live from yet another escalating event. We're witnessing mass destruction on a scale unlike anything I've seen before. Rescue teams and civil authorities have been unable to evacuate danger zones quickly enough to avoid terrible casualties and riots are breaking out across the city, only adding to the disorder and confusion. The decimation of property...the potential loss of life...to call what I am seeing cataclysmic would not be an exaggeration. Reports are unconfirmed, but it appears that the source of this destruction is The Thing! The Future Foundation's Ben Grimm appears to have undergone a sudden and ghastly transformation...a mutation, perhaps...and he's rampaging through the city. It is unclear if this change in his physical form--this apparent change in his state of mind--is some further manifestation of his abnormal physiology or if this might be something else...perhaps, as some have already speculated, something contagious."
[OOC: Everything that occurs within the red velvet room is my own bit of canon. Most of all else is Marvel canon.]

In the red velvet room
Date: 2012-03-09 07:49 pm (UTC)"Chose another victim then," Angrir says. Ben turns to face Angrir and sees the hole he had made in the tile is now oozing black tar.
"What? he says confused.
Angrir points to the tar. "Embrace the fear, become strong and chose the next victim. If you would save this pathetic life, embrace the fear and chose the target."
Ben chokes on his fear but then again he's never let fear stop him before. He steps forward and stands before the tar pit. "How do I know I can trust you."
"You can't. Embrace the fear. Save her."
Ben steps forward and falls into the fear, drowning.
In New York
Date: 2012-03-09 07:55 pm (UTC)Angrir/Ben stands there for a second before speaking. "I shoulda known you couldn't leave well enough alone, Suzie. Show yourself."
"Ben...let me help her..." Susan says appears in front of him.
"Heh...go ahead, What do I care?"
"NO! Destroy her! Kill them both!" The starfish cry out in unison.
"No..." Angrir says firmly. He catches sight of Spier-man swinging in the distance and sees his first victim. Webhead can do it, he's floored a Herald of Galactus before! "She can't spread fear...she can't suffer...if she's dead."
He turns then to follow after Spider-man. "But my patience can only bear so much. The next time I see you, you're dead." He calls out to her as he leaves. Maybe if she thinks he's completely gone she won't hesitate again.

"He's gone, Alicia. Ben's gone. Whatever that Thing is...it's not Ben..or if it is, he's gone insane."
"No," Alicia counters. "I could hear it in his voice. He's not insane. He's afraid."
